Had four nights in Launceston and explored the Tamar valley and surrounds. The City Park in Launceston has some wonderful old deciduous trees and a conservatory Unfortunately very foggy on our visit to Longford not able to see very much. Deloraine for lunch beside the Meander River, another lovely old town. Enjoyable visit to  Platypus & Echidna House at Beauty Point. Barrington is our last night in Tassie. Stayed at very comfortable bed and breakfast, not far from Sheffield the town with over 60 murals.   Lake Barrington a world class rowing course had 1990 world championship there.   In Latrobe the Australian Axeman's Hall of fame of much interest to Tony being an axeman. Had a night in St Helens, lovely drive from Bicheno very close much of the way to the coast line. St Helens is known as Game fishing capital of Tasmania and for oysters.  Tonight going to have fish and chips, had some in Bicheno not great. Chose Skipper's on the waterfront for takeaway F&C's great choice can thoroughly recommend 👏

Early start from Port Arthur via Sorell, Orford (cuppa by the river) Tribunna, Swansea, Coles Bay in Freycinet National Park and Bicheno. Bicheno is a coastal town, claim to fame Shane Gould lives here!! Drove to Campbell Town & Ross both historic towns with amazing historic buildings. Ross is delightful with avenues of large deciduous trees, settled in 1812, historic bridge built by convicts, original sandstone buildings and convict history, so nice to see that many buildings have not been destroyed.

Stopped in Sorell and had lunch and catch up with Rod Liversidge who worked with Tony at Wiluna. Visit to Port Arthur very moving, so peaceful now after a such a terrible horrible history and the massacre in 1996 with loss of 35 lives.

Have had 2 nights since leaving Strahan, Tarraleah between Queenstown and Hobart was a hydro power scheme town in 1930s only a few houses left on an estate that's now owned privately, small Caravan Park and couple of self contained units where we stayed. Hamilton next stop on farmstay on the banks of Lake Meadowbank very pretty spot, foggy in morning just like Boyup Brook made us feel very at home.   Had 3 night's in Hobart at Lodge on Elizabeth, heritage listed Georgian mansion built in 1829.  Did bus tour up Mt Wellington, great view of the city. Big red bus tour which was great giving Tone a rest from driving, some magnificent old buildings with lots of history. Visited Richmond 20 minutes from Hobart, it was established as a military starting post linking Hobart with Port Arthur. Left Corinna on the barge across Pieman River, through very mountainous and wilderness country, stopping at Zeehan for a coffee, an old mining town (tin, silver &lead) Strahan is situated on Macquarie harbour the second largest natural harbour in Aust (6 times larger than Sydney Harbour) very surprised information centre not open. Unfortunately the wilderness rail journey to Queenstown only going 3 days a week and booked out a long way in advance. Went on the heritage cruise on harbour and Gordon River which was fantastic had a wonderful day, even received a complementary wine being mother's Day. Had 2 night's at very comfortable Franklin Manor Cruise on Gordon River Franklin Manor 

Our cottage in Corinna for 2 nights Went from Stanley to Burnie and then Cradle Mountain through lovely undulating farm land and forest's. Had a great visit to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park on a beautiful sunny day, from the visitors centre have to catch a hop on hop off bus which was great,  roads very narrow, driver's in communication with each other and pull off where necessary. Walked to Dove Lake which had excellent views of Cradle Mountain, lots of people walking etc. The beautiful  alpine landscape of rugged peaks the windswept moors, lakes and deep gorges in the ancient forests was well worth seeing. Drove through Waratah, Savage River (Iron ore mining town) to Corinna on the Pieman River in the Tarkine Rainforest on the West Coast.  Very up and down the range's, last 20 odd klms not bitumen quite a good road very thankful not towing the van.
